An Original from me - All of the time

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-27 - 15:12:02

The third of my three Original songs in a row. This is a song called "All of the time". It is a slow paced song.
So far, all of my Original songs on Youtube have done really well. There have been lots of very good comments.

Check out my Original song "All of the time".

A few people on Youtube said that they wouldn't mind doing a cover version of one of my songs, and that gave me an Idea. I thought it would be a good idea to encourage people to do that. After all. It would result in more exposure for my tunes.
The problem is that not everybody is a musician, and cannot make the music, though they may be able to sing.
So I made instrumental versions of my songs on Youtube, and put them up for download on a web page. Then I put the link to that page in my descriptions for my videos.

Here is that link:

Jeffstunes Download page

So now people can now cover my songs if they wish, without having to compose the music. Unless they want to of course.
The one thing I do ask though is that I am credited in some way. A link to my Youtube channel would be ideal.

Now to a Youtube Statisitics update.

Just before that. I have an observation about the figures. There seems to be times when the numbers jump rapidly, and other times when they hardly move at all. The viewings always seem to be consistent, but the Subscriptions seem to be erratic. Oh well. Just an observation.

My subscribers are now at 413.
My Channel views are 10,566.
The overall video viewings are 118,438.

Now for some more cover versions. I actually pick up my guitar!!

A song by me - Escape

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-23 - 16:29:26

This is the 2nd Original of mine, in a row, out of three. This one is called "Escape". This has been well liked by friends, and even music industry people. Like the others before, this song was written a few years ago.

It's basically about people who are tired of playing the chasing game.

Here is the song:

There's been another personal goal reached in my Youtube figures.
I now have 402 subscribers. Past the 400 barrier. Oh well. 500 next.
10,301 channel views, which is a pretty good rise.
Finally the total viewing figures are at 115,368.

Next. The last of my three Originals in a row.

Video 41. Convey

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-20 - 15:24:43

Now for some Originals. This is the first of three. It goes by the name of "Convey". I wanted to write a fresh song that would be first shown on Youtube, and this was the result.

I have been more than happy with the great comments on my Original songs. Most of it has been very complimentary. The meaning behind this composition is about how someone says what they say. Not just the words, but the intention behind them.

Check out Convey:

Back to the Youtube numbers.
I've gained another subscriber, and now I have 393.
Channel views up to 10,111.
Views for all videos are 111,527. They are still flowing very well.

My second Original song in a row is coming next.

Hello again.

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-19 - 14:24:50

Here is the 2nd of the 2 Neil numbers in sequence. This was another of his big hits, and my version on Youtube has done very well. It's had about double the viewings of the previous video.

It's title is "Hello again". If you know Neil Diamond, and you haven't heard of this song, then you need a serious talking too :)

Anyway. Here it is:

That's the last of Neil Diamond for a while. The next 3 songs are all written and performed by me.

Back to the Youtube figures. Here's the latest stats.

392 Subscribers. That's the first time in a long time that there hasn't been a change.
My Channle viewings have finally moved past the 10k target figure and are now 10,064.
Video views now stand at 110,754.

Until next time :)

A September Morn

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-18 - 11:39:29

This is the first of 2 Neil Diamond numbers. This happens to be one of my favourites to sing of his. It is "September morn".

These two Neil Diamond songs were requested a while ago. My request list is so big now, that I have had to stop accepting them. It's goint to take me over a year to get through the current list!

Here is my version of this classic song:

The second of the 2 Neil songs will be in the next post.

So how are things on my Youtube channel?

Well, I've got more subscribers again. The total is 392. 8 more to go to 400.
The Channel views are within touching distance of the 10k figure at 9,996. Youtube updates every so often, so Imagine the next time it does, it will be there.
The video views now stand at 109,854.

Next post. The second Neil number :)

My attempt at a CCR song

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-17 - 13:24:15

Now for something from "Creedence clearwater revival", and the awesome "Bad moon rising". It's a great song in my opinion, and doing this one gave me the opportunity to play around with some of the effects on my sound card. The maximum simultaneous effects I can use are 2, so I opted for Reverb and Slap Back Echo. The latter being similar to the effect used in the original song.

This is my attempt

The Youtube numbers keep on steadily rising, and I'm approaching a couple of targets now.
The subscribers are getting very close to the 400 target and are currently on 389.
With 9,917 Channel views. The 10,000 target is not so far away now. A matter of days. It's looking like the Channel views will reach their target first.
The total video views are at 108,960. They seem to be settling to an average of 1,000 a day.

Next. A couple of Neil Numbers, which were on my extremely long request list.

A heart can get confused

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-16 - 13:04:53

This is a cover I recorded about 4 years ago. It's different to the other cover versions, in that i didn't sit in front of the camera and sing it. There were a few people that really liked the sound of a male voice on this song, so this is why I decided to put it up on Youtube.
This was the first one I managed to get working in stereo, and with better sound quality. Instead of uploading an MPG file. I converted it to a low quality Flash file first. This made uploading the file a lot speedier, because the Flash file was a fraction of the size.

The title of the song is "I am blessed", and was originally recorded by "Eternal".

Here is my rendition.

There's a nice long note hold that I was pleased with in that song :)

Now for some Youtube numbers.
Subscribers 384.
Channel viewings up to 9,827.
Video views 108,198.

Coming up next. A cover of an awesome 60's song and the use of some effects :)

Looking at my walls

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-15 - 17:10:04

This is another song that I wrote.

This is one that was written a few years ago again. It was part of a large batch of songs I wrote in a 2 month period. A number of friends and family took a liking to this one.

It's name is "Anybody there"

It's about someone who is feels lonely, and tries to call people, but without success. This makes the feel worse.

See what you think:

Now for my regular Youtube statistics update.
2 more subscribers since the last post. I'm now on 382.
There's also been a good increas in my channel views. They are now at 9,730.
The video views are also climbing nicely and a now at 107,229.

The next post is another cover version. One I recorded a while back and decided to put up.

A Paul McCartney tribute song

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-14 - 16:41:06

This is a very special cover. My friend, Beatleologist on Youtube, asked me to try this number. I couldn't source the music for it anywhere, so I decided to re-create the music, but differently.
The song was "Here today" by Paul McCartney. This was a tune that Paul McCartney wrote in honour of John Lennon. His version is guitar based. I had an idea. What if I used a piano instead of the guitar, and made the piano sound a bit like the one used in John Lennon's imagine.
I created a montage of pictures for the video. It wasn't too long ago when George Harrison died, so it seemed like a good idea to include pictures of him too.

Here is the final result.

This is another of my videos on Youtube that has done quite well. Being one of my top rated videos with 60 ratings so far :)

Now for my Youtube statistics.
I've had an increase of subscribers to 380 now.
My channel has now been viewed 9,633 times.
The total viewings for all my videos is 105,634. It's a nearly a thousand a day now!

My next video is another Original song from me :)

When you try your best

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-12 - 23:02:24

This next one was very popular on Youtube. I have to say that I think it is one of the best Coldplay songs ever. The one and only "Fix you".

This is my crack at it:

Up until this post, this video has had the following stats:

Rated 55 times.
Viewed 2,281 Times.
Favourited 25 times.
Commented on 136 Times.

My overall progress through Youtube has continued to be positive with a lift in subscribers again to 376. It's getting ever closer to 400.
The video views are up to 103,970.
There have also been 9,500 channel views, which is also steadily on the increase. Only 500 more to get to the magic ten thousand :)

And for my next post. It was specially requested by a very supportive friend on Youtube. It is a cover of a poignant song, which I re-recorded the music for, to give it more impact.

I'll explain more later :)

A Paul Weller song

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-11 - 02:14:41

Now to the thirty first vid. A 1995 Paul weller UK hit. The song is "You do something to me"

Before I continue with Paul Weller. I'm just going to mention and give a link to my channel on Youtube.

I have recently uploaded my 56th vid which is a number called "How to save a life" by "The fray". All fans of Gray's Anatomy will probably know this song well. It's the featured video on my channel at the moment and you can see it by visiting my channel below.

Jeffstunes's Channel on Youtube

Now I've got that out of the way. It's back to the song that is the focus of this post.

Here is my version of that great Paul Weller song.

This weekend has been quite good for new subscribers.

My subscriber tally now stands at 372.

The 100,000 video views milestone was passed on friday, and now stands at 102,181.

The next number will be something from Coldplay.

You dont know what Im thinking

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-07 - 15:00:37

Now on the the 30th video.

This is an Original song that I penned a while back. It's called "Why don't you ask".
This one is more up tempo in relation to the other songs of mine. I wanted to hear what it would sound like if I used a vibraphone in an indie song, and the results are in this song.

The tune is about two people. One of them really wants to know the other person inside, and asks to find out. Their partner doesn't reciprocate though. They just make assumptions. Their assumptions are wrong.

Have a listen:

Now for some numbers.

The subscriber count has advanced again.

The current total is 354.

I've just passed 99,000 overall views for my videos. At the current rate. They should make the 100,000 during friday.

There have been 9402 chanel views. The next magic figure for this is of course 10,000. I estimate it might take a few weeks.

Back to cover versions for the next video. Something by Paul Weller :)

The memory lingers

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-06 - 16:54:44

Wohoo. Just about to hit the thirtieth video. This one is the 29th.

This song climbed to number 9 in 1973 in the UK charts. It's a slow romantic number called "Summer (The first time)", by Bobby Goldsboro. I always associated this song with a film called "Summer of 42". One I enjoyed watching. I was a story about a boy during the war, finding out about his sexuality, and falling for a war widow.

This is my version of that song.

There's been a bit more activity with my subscribers again. They have increased. So here is the latest tally up until the time of this post.

Subscribers = 352

The 100,000 video views is getting ever closer, and I work out that it should pass that figure in the next couple of days.Hmmm. Will I celebrate or not. Lol :)

The video after this is going to be another one of my original songs, which contains some experimenting.

So until then....

Raindrops are falling on my head

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-05 - 13:38:11

There are plenty of tunes that please me but the next song I did does that particularly well. It's that old classic "Raindrops keep falling on my head". The version I knew the best, was the BJ Thomas version.

Some of you will know that this song was used in the film "Butch cassidy and the sundance kid". It's a really uplifting song to do.

A number of other Youtubers were also cheered by it. Several of them decided to record their own version in response to my video :)

Here is my performance:

Since the last post, I have taken on board another 2 subscribers.

The total now stands at 349.

I am very close to having over 100,000 video views. That's a big milestone. This should hopefully clock over in the next few days. My channel views are also approaching a landmark figure of 10,000. It should be too long before that happens. Maybe a week or two.

My next song is another old song from the 70's.

Bruce and Philadelphia

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-03 - 14:39:48

On to the 27th video which is a slow number from the great movie, Philadelphia. The song itself is called "Streets of philadelphia" and is originally performed by Bruce Springsteen.
It's another one of those highly emotional numbers. I got to know the song before I saw the movie. The movie was a very sad and moving tale.

Here is my performance of that classic song.

I thought it migh be a good idea to include my Youtube subscriber count in every post from now on. To see how it's hopefully progressing.
Here we go.

The current number of subscribers to my Youtube channel is: 347

I'm hoping that figure will increase from post to post. There's only one way to find out :)

The Connells

by jeffstunes @ 2008-02-02 - 13:17:59

In the mid nineties a great band going by the name of The Connells had success in the UK with a great tune. The song climbed to number 14 in the UK. It's the subject of this next video.

The song I'm talking about is 74/75.

I can't work out why the Connells didn't have more success because this was a brilliant number in my opinion.

Most of you will probably recognise the song. Here's me giving it a crack.

No. It's not another Neil Diamond song next :)
